Your Financial Aid Package From Rhodes Is Portable for Semester- and Year Long Programs
Students may study off-campus on one semester- or year-long Rhodes Program, Exchange Program, or Affiliated Program. Put simply, students pay tuition, room, and board to Rhodes and receive tuition, room and board on the program. More specifically, programs will include full board, partial board, or even no board - in each case, Rhodes will bill the student full, partial, or no board, whichever is appropriate. In some cases, programs are tuition-only; in these cases, Rhodes will charge students for Rhodes' tuition and fees, but not for room or board, leaving the student to secure room/board independently (or through the program). Rhodes institutional aid and federal/state aid are portable for these programs. There are merit-based and need-based study abroad scholarships available, too! Bridging Scholarships for Study Abroad in Japan
The Bridging Project offers 100 scholarships annually to American undergraduate students participating in semester- or year-long study abroad programs in Japan.

DAAD: German Academic Exchange Service
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports international academic cooperation and invites highly qualified undergraduates to apply for scholarships for study, research and/or internships in Germany.
Thomas R. Pickering Undergraduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship
This program provides funding to participants as they prepare academically and professionally to enter the United States Department of State Foreign Service. Women, members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, and students with financial need are encouraged to apply. They recruit talented students in academic programs relevant to international affairs, political and economic analysis, administration, management, and science policy. The goal is to attract outstanding students from all ethnic, racial, and social backgrounds who have an interest in pursuing a Foreign Service career in the U.S. Department of State.
Fund for Education Abroad (FEA)
FEA will award funds for students planning to study abroad on any academically rigorous program. Scholarships meet the financial needs of students who might not be eligible for government grants or other funds.
The Ashley Soulé Conroy Foundation Scholarship
In hopes that a tragedy can enrich the lives of others, the Ashley Soulé Conroy foundation has been created to provide scholarships for travel and study abroad.
Go Overseas Free Flight to New Zealand
A free round-trip flight to one lucky winner to travel to New Zealand to study abroad will be awarded to a student studying in New Zealand who identifies as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) and is a citizen of the US.
Gilman-McCain Scholarship
The Gilman-McCain Scholarship provides awards of $5,000 for undergraduate students of active-duty service members to study abroad. The scholarship honors the late Senator John McCain's legacy of public service by enabling undergraduate students to develop the leadership, career readiness skills, and a global perspective.

Fastweb is a database that allows students to create a free profile that is matched to all types of scholarships, grants, and internships.

College Board Opportunity Scholarships database is a tool to match students to scholarships based on their background, achievements, and future plans.
International Students and Study Abroad Scholarships
International students are able to compete for the merit-based Buckman Fellowship, provided they meet the same eligibility requirements as US students. You may read more about this fellowship on the link above.
Need-based scholarships are limited for international students. Aid is awarded in the form of grants or “gift" aid, which varies in dollar amounts according to each student’s demonstrated financial need. Only international students who are unable to meet programmatic costs should apply for need-based study abroad scholarships.

Applying Your Financial Aid to Study Abroad Programs
If using your scholarships/funds creates a credit balance on your Rhodes student account, you may either:
- Request a check for the extra amount, or
- Request that Rhodes use that amount to pay a portion or all of your programmatic invoice. If you opt for this, forward your invoice to the Bursar, Richard Huddleston. He will pay the portion of the invoice which your existing or anticipated credit balance will allow.
Need-Based Scholarships and Buckman Fellowships
(Please note that, for deadlines that fall on a weekend or holiday, the deadline will be the next business day.)
For Summer Programs:
- All students on Summer Programs will be considered for a need-based scholarship if they have a current FAFSA and have at least a 2.75 GPA.
- Students who are accepted to the program with a GPA of 2.75 or higher, but whose GPA drops below 2.75 before scholarships are awarded, lose their eligibility for a need-based scholarship. Students choosing to withdraw after being accepted to the program will be held to the "Program Fees, Billing, and Refunds" Policy.
- Not all students will receive an award. Need based award amounts vary, based on each student's individual FAFSA information. Some awards may cover up to 100% of the program cost, though that is rare.
- Students choosing to withdraw their Off-Campus Study Application for a Rhodes Summer Program* must do so by February 22. Following February 22, Rhodes′ "Program Fees and Billing" Policy, and Rhodes′ "Cancellation and Refund" Policy will apply. Follow this link to review our Policies.

- Scholarship and Fellowship applications for fall or academic-year programs are due February 15.
- Scholarship and Fellowship applications for spring programs are due October 15.
