Maymester Fees, Billing, Refund, and Cancellation

Be informed. Understand these policies. They have an impact on your Off-Campus Study.
Program Fees, Billing, and Refunds
Program fees for Rhodes summer programs vary but generally include tuition and housing. Rhodes College reserves the right to cancel, alter, or amend any part of a Rhodes summer program or to increase fees should circumstances make these actions advisable or necessary.

In the event that a student chooses to withdraw from the program after being accepted, the student will be responsible for the entire cost of the program. Students may lose their eligibility to participate either by poor conduct or academic performance, which is considered a voluntary withdrawal. Accepted students who are ultimately unable to participate because they lack the necessary prerequisite courses, travel documents, immunizations, or other items required for travel to the location are understood to have voluntarily withdrawn from the program. Refunds will be considered only in cases of serious illness or emergency and the amounts of refunds will be determined individually on the basis of costs recoverable by Rhodes. These refunds will not be provided until after the final accounting of the program has taken place, which could be several months after the program has completed.

Regarding Need-Based Scholarships For Rhodes Summer Programs
Rhodes students who have a current FAFSA on file (or CSS Profiles in the case of international students) and a GPA of 2.75 or higher are eligible* for a need-based scholarship if they apply to the program by the stated deadline. Eligible students are automatically considered for a need-based scholarship. Need-based award amounts vary. Some awards may cover as much as 100% of the program cost, though that is quite rare and most awardees will receive less than that. Awards are limited and it’s possible that not all eligible students will receive an award.

*Students who are not eligible for a need-based scholarship or who do not have demonstrated need as determined by the Financial Aid Office are excluded from the above. Students who are accepted to the program with a GPA of 2.75 or higher, but whose GPA drops below 2.75 before scholarships are awarded, lose their eligibility for a need-based scholarship. Students choosing to withdraw after being accepted to the program will be held to the "Program Fees, Billing, and Refunds" Policy.

Cancellation Policy
In the event of cancellation of an entire session of a Rhodes summer program before commencement of the program, all monies paid to Rhodes prior to that time will be refunded. Should an unavoidable event such as epidemic, civil unrest, or threat of terrorist activity result in a partial cancellation, a prorated refund of all fees, together with an appropriate evaluation of academic credit, will follow. These actions will terminate any further liability on the part of Rhodes.
