Need Based Scholarship Information

Need-Based Study Abroad Scholarships

Eligibility:
Applicants must have at least a 2.75 GPA, unless otherwise specified.
Applicants must have a current FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office at the time of application.
Preference is given to rising juniors.

Summer Scholarship Process:
Rhodes students who have submitted an application, have a current FAFSA on file, and a GPA of 2.75 will be automatically considered for a need-based scholarship. Students who are accepted to the program with a GPA of 2.75 or higher, but whose GPA drops below 2.75 before scholarships are awarded, lose their eligibility for a need-based scholarship. Students choosing to withdraw after being accepted to the program will be held to the "Program Fees, Billing, and Refunds" Policy.

Need based award amounts will vary, based on each student's individual FAFSA report. Some awards may cover as much as 100% of the program cost, though most applicants will receive less than that.

Students choosing to withdraw their Off-Campus Study Application for a Rhodes Summer Program must do so by February 22.* Following February 22, Rhodes′ "Program Fees and Billing" Policy, and Rhodes′ "Cancellation and Refund" Policy will apply. Follow this link to review our policies. Any scholarship offered is contingent upon acceptance to, and participation, in a Rhodes or Affiliated Program.

*Students who do not have a FAFSA on file and/or do not have demonstrated need as determined by the Financial Aid Office are excluded from the above. If they choose to withdraw their application after acceptance to the program, the "Program Fees and Billing" Policy and the "Cancellation and Refund" Policy will apply.

Semester and Academic-Year Process
For semester- or year-long programs, students may apply for the Buckman Fellowship and may also be considered for the need-based award, though applicants should be aware that, if awarded, it will be one type of award only. It is possible that applicants may not be granted either type of award. Applicants should budget carefully and plan to have an affordable backup program.
