Berlin Spring Quarter - Business, Sustainability & Innovation

Program Overview

Study Business, Sustainability & Innovation in Berlin—one of the world’s most historically, economically, politically, and culturally exciting cities! This English-taught, 10-week program makes this global city your home.

Beginning in March 2021, our program takes full advantage of Berlin’s position as an economic powerhouse and global leader in sustainability, as well as the city’s entrepreneurial spirit. The English-taught courses in topics such as Business Ethics, International Marketing, and Global Business are viewed through the lens of Berlin and Germany, using local startups and corporations as case studies. You’ll learn firsthand the significant challenges involved in balancing financial success with sustainability. You can also supplement your Business studies with a course on German Popular Culture or Intercultural Communication.

Berlin and Germany will be your classroom. Imagine studying Global Business and then taking a trip to BMW's manufacturing plant in Munich. Or learning about Business Ethics and then attending a talk at the Potsdam Institute of Climate Research. All of your classes will include course-related trips that take you out of the classroom and into the real world, with visits to startups, businesses, and organizations in and around Berlin.

Why Berlin?

You mean besides being a cosmopolitan, diverse, exciting, and endlessly explorable city brimming with creativity, innovation, new ideas, and boundless energy? Well, there’s the fact that Berlin is at the center of European and global politics and economics and, along with the rest of Germany, it leads the way in sustainability efforts, with an ambitious plan to become completely carbon neutral by 2050.

Berlin is the home to countless innovative startups, many of which also focus on sustainability issues. At the same time, Germany is also home to many massive (and more traditional) manufacturing conglomerates (think Volkswagen, Merck, BMW, Siemens, and many more).

What we’re saying is this: if you’re looking to study Business, Sustainability, and Innovation in one of the world’s most historically, economically, politically, and culturally exciting cities, you can’t beat Berlin.

Student Life

We strive to make sure you feel safe, cared for, and at home while you’re away from home. Whether it’s the orientation program that makes you feel prepared, your housing that is well-located and comfortable, the cultural events that make it easy and fun to meet other international and local students, or the field trips and walking tours that take you to places tourists don’t usually see—we’re all about our student service. Learn more about the day-to-day studying abroad on this program. From field trips to housing, it’s all on IES Abroad’s website.
